Tip #1 – Make a trip to the assessment office.

This office contains a wealth of knowledge that we don’t take enough advantage of. Get as much information about your property in Salt Lake City Utah as you can. Make sure that everything that is recorded in that office is true to the best of your knowledge. If it is not, then you definitely want to rectify that. Whatever is not correct, you want to be able to show proof via pictures, photos or even measurements that what is recorded is incorrect and then what it should be.

Tip #2 – Assess property in your neighborhood

Remember that the assessment office is a wealth of knowledge. When you go to the office, get some values of other properties in your Salt Lake City Utah. See where your house stands versus others properties in the area. Determine whether your assessed value is low or high or right where it should be.

AAA is offering their Tipsy Tow program for free tonight (3/17/11) from 6 pm to 6 am Fri morning (3/18/11). 

During the period Tipsy Tow is available, drivers, potential passengers, party hosts, bartenders, and restaurant managers can call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) for a free tow home of up to ten miles. Just tell the AAA operator, "I need a Tipsy Tow," and a truck will be on its way.

The service will provide a one-way ride for the driver and vehicle to the driver's home. If there are additional passengers who need a ride, they will be taken to the driver's home as long is there is sufficient room for them to be transported safely in the tow truck. You cannot make a reservation.

The difference between real property and personal property may seem obvious - until closing day.  As a professional real estate agent in the Greater Salt Lake City and Park City Utah area, I have seen many misunderstandings come about unnecessarily.  An easy way to avoid problems at closing is to have a clear understanding of what stays with the house in writing.  Negotiating every detail is vital to the success of a purchase and sale.

Real property consists of everything that is permanent including the house, the land, and permanently affixed items.  Examples of permanent items are hard wired lighting fixtures and nailed down wall-to-wall carpeting.  Examples of personal property are furniture pieces, dishes, and towels.  Some items such as certain appliances, fall into a gray area and may be     considered either real or personal property.  In order to avoid misunderstandings at closing,   make sure your purchase offer specifically lists any appliances or other items that are to remain with the house. 

An item can become real property when negotiated as part of the sales contract.  This has become common in the Greater Salt Lake City and Park City Utah area especially with so many custom kitchen renovations taken place.  For example, if a particular appliance fits perfectly within a space, the buyers would want that appliance to remain.  The sales contract insures that appliance will remain with the house if negotiated as such.  Visit www.BuySaltLakeHomes.com www.kathyohomes.com for examples of houses for sale in the Greater Salt Lake City and Park City Utah area.
