Sandy, Utah is located generally between 7800 S. to 12100 S.
and 700 W. to 3400 E.The first pioneers
began to settle there in the 1860's and became incorporated in 1893.
Way back when with the land being too dry to farm, the
livelihood of the area was generated by the mining in Big Cottonwood Canyon
which was in full production between the 1870's to the early 1900's. Being at
the mouth of the canyon, Sandy
was the perfect place for the miners to get supplies by day and carouse by
night.Once the mine's dried up Sandy went back to
developing the traditional, conventional rural identity that was intended.
Sandy
experienced tremendous growth in the 1970's with the discovery of their newer
homes, wider spaces and lower prices at the time.Sandy
has its share of elaborate houses as well as the more affordable homes in
consistently well cared for neighborhoods.
